QT isolation

microPREP GUI is based on QT. Since the system is designed for the microPREP GUI only, the QT installation is optimized for it.

If the microPREP software is installed on a separate system (offline) or other QT-based software (such as LibreCad or LibreOffice) is to be used, the current setup does not allow these programs to run.

If necessary, the QT functionality can be reset.

Please follow the individual steps to change the system configuration so that other QT-based software can also be run.

Step 1: Modify Environment Variables Step 2: Modify microPREP setup

Please search under Windows Start for “Environmental …” (German: Systemumgebungsvariablen) or call the system settings by means of key shortcut “Win” + “Pause”

Please call the “Environmental Variables”. You can find them under tab “Advanced” (see also image)

Please remove the following entries:

QT_PLUGIN_PATH
QT_QPA_PLATFORM_PLUGIN

The system will apply the settings immediately. Therefore, the setup of the microPREP software has to be adjusted in the following (Step 2)

Since the microPREP GUI needs the parameters to run, an additional file must be created:

qt.conf

Please create a text file with the following content:

[Paths]
Plugins=C:/Program Files/Qt/5.7.1/plugins
Qml2Imports=C:/Program Files/Qt/5.7.1/qml

After saving please change the name to qt.conf. If necessary you have to show the file extensions via the folder options,

Please copy the file into the following folder:

C:\Program Files\microPREP

Admin rights on the system are necessary for this.
The microPREP software can now be started next to other QT based systems.
